Here is George again, with an update on what he has been doing:
---------------------------------------------------------------
At the beginning of the last week of April, while taking the wooden cairn down to the bottom car park, I was enveloped by a group of low-flying swallows; an absolutely amazing moment! I’ve never been so close to one before, let alone a whole flock. I guess they were hunting for insects close to the ground, which would explain why they were flying so low.

The weather took a turn for the worst unfortunately, from hot sunny days, to cold and rainy. Still, it didn’t dampen my spirits, and never seems to affect the wildlife. Occasionally some sun shines through, so it’s not all bad. The wind has become quite gusty so I’m starting to wear my fleece a lot more!
On Wednesday 26 April, I went to Boston Enterprise Centre to partake in an emergency first aid at work course which was very fun! There was only one other person there and the instructor was very experienced. Doing CPR is hard when you have to do at least 5-8 cycles of 30 chest compressions to the beat of the “staying alive”. My certificate will arrive in a one or two weeks, but I’m still glad I attended. It feels good to have an additional skill for life, and emergency first aid and driving are the best ones to have.
Well, April is over now and with that my first month of volunteering at Frampton Marsh. I’ll miss Easter, but there’s always next year. Now I begin May in earnest. Busy times ahead!
Reedbed, freshwater scrapes, saltmarsh and wet meadow. Frampton Marsh has it all! Come and pay us a visit soon.
