Howdy folks! This is your weekly round-up ofd the recent sightings at Frampton marsh (and sometimes Freiston Shore) with me, Chris the visitor guy.
So, what do we have for you? Alas, no great knot. This rare American wader is sunning itself over across the other side of the Wash at Titchwell. Someone go and persuade it to come here?
Which isn't to say we are not lacking interest here. It seems the start of the wader migration is upon us. So strap yourselves in, it is map time!
As you will see, the godwits and knot have been a feature of the past week. Not always there, but always worth searching through for the curlew sandpiper
We're sure the garganey is with us all the time. its just really hard to spot!
There was also a spotted redshank on the wet grassland opposite to the visitor centre on this day too.
Sorry about the photo there. Reminds me of my student days...
So there you have it! Well, almost. Because as per usual these sightings maps have been very bird orientated. So here are a couple of extra nice things seen recently. An eyed hawkmoth and a golden-bloomed grey longhorn beetle, both found and photographed by J Gamble on Sunday.
For those of you interested in your insects, i shall be moth trapping Friday and Saturday nights, opening up the traps down at the visitor centre at 10 am the following morning. Come along to see what I've found!
Reedbed, freshwater scrapes, saltmarsh and wet meadow. Frampton Marsh has it all! Come and pay us a visit soon.
