Howdy folks! Welcome to another edition of the Frampton Marsh recent sightings. With me, Chris the visitor guy.

So, some really big tides earlier in the week brought in a lot of waders. And quite a few birdwatchers too. But we'll get to that in a minute.

As you may remember, last time I set a challenge for someone to try to take a photograph of a kingfisher, sat on the 'kingfisher perch' in front of the visitor centre. "Ho ho!" I thought, it'll take forever for anyone to get lucky enough to catch that moment. kingfishers generally being quite flighty, and never stopping there long.

Well, it took about 2 days.

Stand up Christine Holliday, and take a bow!

Definitely a few of these superb birds about. Reports of up to four in one location. Autumn always seems to bring them in.

So, onto the week's sightings...

A nice mix there of migrants and remaining summer visitors, now heading southwards. We've even been seeing the first pink-footed geese returning.

This looks to have been the first sighting this winter of a hen harrier

Big high tides over the next few days means full sightings boards!

The Lapland bunting was a nice spot by Toby our warden as it flitted over the seabank.

And no, I have no idea what was going on with the hobby either!

So there you have it. The tides are now dropping, but come back again next month with even larger ones in the middle of October. Watch this space for more details.

Anyway, the weather looks nice for this weekend, so i hope to see lots of you out on the reserve. Take care, good birding, and I'll see you all next time!

Reedbed, freshwater scrapes, saltmarsh and wet meadow. Frampton Marsh has it all! Come and pay us a visit soon.
