Another cracking day on the reserve. Habitats are looking good, water is going to the right places thanks to Big Blue, and best of all there are loads and loads of birds. Did a quick tally for the board of some of our most numerous species. Incredible to think that in 2007 the reserve was just fields and none of these birds were here.

It's not all about making sure we have some quality habitats though, we need to make sure you guys get to see the fruit of our knowledge and labour. With the sun on your back for most of the day, the cross bank is a great place to sit and appreciate the spectacle in front of you. And we've now made sure you can do just that and rest your legs too with a new bench that we put in today.

Fantastic views of pink-footed and Brent geese were to be had along with thousands of golden plover and wigeon. The fence line on the right is great for perching birds of prey and the channel in front will be ideal in the Spring for wood and green sandpipers. What a top spot :)
