There is a new face to be seen on the reserve. Nelly has joined us for 6 months as a conservation intern. Here are a few words from her:
------------------------------------------
Hello everyone! My name is Nelly and I’m Frampton’s new conservation intern. You will see me around the reserve in the next six months. Afterwards, I’m continuing my internship at Minsmere for another six months. This residential RSPB internship reminds me of a childhood dream of mine – living and learning in the wild. I grew up in a remote mountain village in Bulgaria. My parents say that I would refuse to leave and repeatedly asked if we could live in the mountains and built a school there, instead if going to school in the city. My childhood dreams and love for nature have developed into the conscious goal to work for the betterment and protection of the environment. I want to dedicate my life to help maintain and sustain our biodiversity. I came to the UK to study ecology at University of East Anglia as it has the reputation of being one of the best universities in Europe. During my studies, I gained even stronger enthusiasm for nature. I am particularly interested in habitat management and habitat use of predators. I am keen on learning as much as possible about conservation and bird identification.
Frampton Marsh is an amazing place to learn, explore and grow. I’ve been here only for a week and I feel I’m so lucky to be surrounded by people who have such a great knowledge in nature management. I am looking forward to do bird surveys, predator monitoring, land management and many more exciting tasks. I love working outdoors and I believe that the RSPB offers a great chance to learn many skills, that I am eager to master. I have always wanted a career helping nature and this internship is the perfect start for gaining valuable experience.
Reedbed, freshwater scrapes, saltmarsh and wet meadow. Frampton Marsh has it all! Come and pay us a visit soon.
