Hi, I’m Jenni Tulip and I’m the new Visitor Officer here at RSPB Fairburn Ings. My job is to make Fairburn Ings an exciting and dynamic place for you to visit, by giving you the chance to get involved in this magical place through special outings and events. Having only been with the RSPB Fairburn Ings team for a moth, I can already sense the passion of the staff, volunteers and visitors here.
I can see everybody doing their bit to ensure that RSPB Fairburn Ings is an amazing place for nature and for people. Be it the business man, with his top button released and ruffled tie, picking up a bag of Sunflower seed bird feed on his way home from work; the avid birder, enthusing others about what species she had seen that day; or the volunteer who guided a first time visitor to the Kingfisher Screen. All these people share the same thing I do; passion for nature. And I am so excited I have become a part of it.
I thought I should write a small bit about me so you can get an idea of who I am and what skills I have to bring here;
First of all, I LOVE nature and the countryside environment. I believe that educating everyone on the importance of nature and conservation is the key to ensuring the future of our natural landscapes and all the animals that live there. I joined the RSPB because I want to make a difference. I may not be an expert on Bar Tailed Godwit breeding locations or what Little Egrets prefer to eat for breakfast, but I do know how to reach people and how to get them involved. I promise to deliver you exciting events and communicate what we are doing, and why, with you.
I have been brought up, and still live in, the beautiful county of Yorkshire. I have previously worked in marketing and customer service roles where I have acquired great people skills and able to communicate well with loads of different people. In my spare time I enjoy walking, bird watching and adventurous days out. Currently I’m studying Countryside Management to further my knowledge in conservation and hopefully make an even bigger difference in the future.
I can’t wait to get stuck in, work really hard and contribute to this beautiful reserve and the RSPB’s voice for nature I welcome your suggestions and comments. So, please come and speak to me if you see me, or feel free to email me at jenni.tulip@rspb.org.uk and I’ll get back in touch. See you around the visitor centre soon!
