Dungeness steam

Last Sunday you may have been alarmed by the site and sound of the Dungeness B nuclear power station letting off steam - don't worry. Although this was a dramatic spectacle as experienced from RSPB Dungeness, the venting of high pressure steam in this way is a normal consequence of the national grid taking the power station off line for any reason. It is the energy in that steam that normally drives the turbines powering our homes, and the reserve needs to bleed off into the air when power is not required. After about an hour peace and tranquility returned to the peninsula.
