We had a great time at the reserve on Friday and Saturday last week. The staff and visitors alike dressed up in their scary Halloween costumes and the children got stuck in to many different crafts and activities, earning their treats as they went along. We made candy apples for the birds, painted jars and pebbles with spooky characters and created monsters out of leaf prints. There was also a competition to see who could stick the nose on the bat in the right place!
We had a good turn out with lots of families coming in over the two days, especially on the Saturday afternoon where they popped in before heading out trick or treating at home. We hope they have been inspired by the activities they did and we look forward to seeing all the ghouls and witches back next year!
Ready to scare!
Making 'toffee apples' for the birds with suet, seed, mealworms and raisins - yum yum!
Pinning the nose on the bat - not quite where it's meant to be but very good attempts (I couldn't have done better!)
Making scary monsters out of leaves!
Our next event is coming up soon - this time we are getting ready for Christmas! Come along to the reserve on Sunday 15th November where we will have mulled wine and nibbles, children's activities and of course, lots of wildlife to come and see!
