With the longer, warmer days arriving, exciting things are happening at Dungeness: booming bitterns have been heard, lapwings are displaying and ... track repairs are about to begin!  The notorious access track to the reserve will be undergoing intensive improvement works during the next week.  This will result in disrupted access to the visitor centre (which will be operating as usual) for small periods during the day as the track will be closed for 30 minute periods of work.  You may find yourself impeded from leaving or arriving at the visitor centre for a short while but don’t worry – there will be teas and coffees available for any stranded visitors!

We are optimistic that the work will address the worst offending sections of the track by the installation of a camber along the centre of the track which is expected to improve water drainage and eliminate the potholes formed by the pooling of water so that the entirety of the track looks more like this:
