We’ve had a busy weekend here at Dungeness! Our staff and volunteers had put on a range of activities to keep people busy. Optics demonstrations led by knowledgeable staff and volunteers allowed our visitors a chance to try out a range of binoculars and telescopes we have to offer here in our shop.
Furthermore we had a successful day in the wildlife garden on Saturday! It was a warm and windless day, bringing in many different creepy crawlies from butterflies and bees to lizards and newts. Our visitors enjoyed getting up close and personal with our garden wildlife and left feeling encouraged to welcome more wildlife into their own gardens at home.

Children also took part in various activities from learning how to make a simple pond using a washing up bowl to making bee houses out of toilet rolls and bamboo canes to take home with them. They had a great (and messy!) time painting their favourite wildlife onto our mural which is to be proudly displayed on our garden wall. The artistic skills shown on Saturday were amazing – some future artists visited here that’s for sure!

There will be another gardening event in a few weeks time as well as many upcoming optics demos throughout the year, so check the website for all the dates and details!
