It's been a lovely week on the reserve, with our wildflowers continuing to bloom marvelously, bringing bright colour and wonderful scent to compliment your visit. All over the reserve we are starting to see the results of breeding season, with the highlights of this week being juvenile marsh harriers flying, great crested grebe juveniles riding on their parents' backs, and common tern juveniles out on the tern rafts - always a treat to see!

Bittern – one over Denge Marsh on 24th. Glossy ibis – one at ARC and then Hayfield 3 on 27th. Marsh harrier – One juvenile over Hooker’s ramp on 28th. Hobby – over Hookers viewpoint on 27th. Peregrine – one over Denge Marsh on 27th. Common buzzard – at Boulderwall Farm on 22nd. Black-tailed godwit – nine at Hayfield 3 on 22nd. Curlew – one in Boulderwall fields on 25th. Common gull – nesting on far left raft at Denge Marsh. Common tern – nesting and hatching on tern rafts at Denge Marsh. Cuckoo – one at Hooker’s ramp on 24th. Lesser Whitethroat – one at Hooker’s ramp on 24th. Little ringed plover – four at Hayfield 3 on 22nd
