Sightings 14th to 20th February 2015

Bewick’s swan – 86 roosting on ARC flew off late in the mist on 16^th.

Pintail – three on Burrowes pit on 20^th.

Goldeneye – five females and two drakes on Burrowes pit and at ARC on 20^th.

Smew – one redhead and one drake on Burrowes pit on 20^th.

Goosander – two on Burrowes pit between Makepeace and Scott hides on 19^th.

Black-necked grebe – two on new diggings on 16^th.

Bittern – one at Denge Marsh and one at Christmas dell on 18^th.

Great white egret – one at ARC, one near Boulderwall Farm and one at Denge Marsh on 18^th.

Peregrine – one near Boulderwall Farm and one at Christmas dell on 19^th.

Buzzard – two over Denge Marsh on 18^th.

Merlin – one at Christmas dell on 19^th.

Avocet – ten on Burrowes pit on 16^th.

Curlew – two at Denge Marsh on 19^th.

Golden plover – 100+ at Denge Marsh on 19^th.

Water rail – at Hookers pits on 18^th.

Short-eared Owl – One at Denge Marsh on 15^th.

Barn owl – one at Scott hide on 15^th.

Kingfisher – one at ARC and one at Burrowes pit on 20^th.

Chiffchaff – at Firth hide on 20^th.

Bearded tit – showing well in the sunshine at Hookers pits on 18^th.

Long-tailed tit – at Dennis’s hide on 19^th.
