Apologies the blog has been a little quiet this week, this has been due to technical issues.  We are very happy to now be back up and running however!

Dungeness has two new additions to our team - Jack and Lana, who will be posting the odd blog and giving an insight into their roles as residential volunteers.  First up is Jack:

Hello Dungeness!

My name is Jack and I'm one of the current residential volunteers on the reserve, braving the winter weather to help maintain, and hopefully improve, one of the most stunning parts of the UK I have visited. I started volunteering in conservation in September of last year, after deciding my current career path wasn't giving me the sense of achievement I felt I needed each day at the office. I was lucky enough to be able to travel to British Columbia and volunteer with the Nature Conservancy of Canada, aiding their bird ringing team at Tatlayoko Lake Bird Observatory. It was an incredible experience, and encouraged me to pursue something similar when I returned from travelling.

I've been in Dungeness now for three weeks, and have thoroughly enjoyed the varied work and meeting all the wonderfully passionate staff.  When my time here comes to an end, I hope I am able to move to another reserve and get the same sense of accomplishment, and, continue giving nature a home.
