recent visitors 20th January 2016

Recent cold weather has brought some extra visitors to the reserve with two Whooper swans near Boulderwall Farm on the 19th, two black-necked grebes on new diggings and a barn owl at Denge Marsh today. The long-eared owl was spotted this afternoon at the dipping pond after a two day absence.

Bittern – two at ARC on 20^th

Peregrine – two near Boulderwall Farm on 20^th   

Sparrowhawk – female over car park on 19^th  

Hen harrier – male over Burrowes pit on 15^th

Marsh harrier – over Burrowes pit on 19^th

Buzzard – over Burrowes pit on 19^th     

Water rail –  Burrowes pit on 19^th

Bar-tailed godwit – at ARC on 14^th

Snipe – 4 at Denge Marsh on 16^th    

Jack Snipe – one at Hookers pit on 16^th

Glaucous Gull  - Boulderwall on 14^th

Long-eared owl – roosting in willow on the far side of the dipping pond on 20^th

Barn owl – at Denge Marsh on 20^th    

Kingfisher – two over Burrowes pit on 20^th   

Great Spotted Woodpecker – car park feeders on 10^th  

Stonechat – by access track on 19^th  

Dartford warbler – Dennis’ hide and Hookers on 15^th

Chiffchaff – three near Burrowes pit on 20^th   

Bearded tit – at Hookers pits on 20^th  

Penduline tit – viewing ramp/Hookers pits on 17^th    

Firecrest – on reserve on 18^th

Goldcrest – two at Firth hide on 20^th
