In brilliant sunshine but strong winds there was plenty to see, particularly at ARC. A glossy ibis was putting on a good show in front of Hanson hide at ARC. There was also a late swallow and a house martin passing through over ARC. Other sightings at ARC included three female goldeneye, a curlew sandpiper, a dunlin, a ruff, four black-tailed godwit, two curlew and four greenshank. Over on Burrowes pit there were two black-necked grebe at Firth hide and at Dennis’s hide there were four great white egret, two chiffchaff and a wheatear. For those visitors making round the rest of the reserve there was a bittern at Hookers pits, a black redstart along the return trail and a skylark flying overhead.
