The day started well with the two black redstarts on the Visitor Centre roof.  As I crossed the car park the pinging call of bearded tits drew me towards the demo pond and, lo and behold, after a couple of minutes four extremely smart males came out and perched briefly at the edge of the reeds.

Yesterday's highlights included a long-tailed duck still on the ARC pit, where a female scaup was also seen.  The great white egret was back on Denge Marsh where a bittern was also spotted and a brambling was found in Christmas Dell.
