Had the morning at Old Moor with a mate today and the first bird we came across was this little poser in the Tree Sparrow Farm.

As you leave the VC at Old Moor one of the first places you can visit is the Tree Sparrow Farm where there is a viewing screen at the feeders, Image our delight to see this little beauty sat quietly not 10ft away
This is taken at 400mm and couldn't get her all in
rest are taken at around 200mm or less

The feeders are in a rough bit of ground Jim so I think it's learnt there is a few mice knocking about.
Hi Alan. I believe I know the very Kestrel!!! It's been a while since I was at Old Moor what with one thing and another, but I've just been looking back at my photos and the last time I was there was last November when I got some lovely shots of a Kestrel at the Tree Sparrow farm. It didn't bat an eyelid whilst everyone was stood there pointing a camera at it! I put a photo on my Flickr page at the time. It's good to know that what I assume is the same Kestrel is still thriving throughout the winter.
