Our first Greylag Goose for a while arrived on the 12th to keep our two Canada Geese company. Shelduck started arriving back from their breeding grounds this week with at least 10 on the estuary, occasionally popping onto the reserve. A pair of Gadwall arrived on the 14th with a Tufted Duck and Pochard. A pair of Goldeneye and 6 Red-breasted Mergansers have also been on the deeper lagoon.

A pair of Sparrowhawks have been around the reserve again with the occasional sighting of a Peregrine.

At least 3 Water Rails have been calling from the reed beds. 4 Dunlin were roosting on the islands on the 10th. A lone Ringed Plover was feeding on the estuary on the 14th. The highest count of Black-tailed Godwits was 7 on the same date.

Smaller birds have been difficult to find this week. A lone Grey Wagtail arrived on the 12th. A Chiffchaff was seen on the 10th and 12th. One Goldcrest was around the Ganol trail on the 15th. Our highest counts of Meadow Pipit were 22 and Linnets 7.

A good count of 229 Carrion Crows on the mudflats was interesting, on the 15th.

There have also been a few sightings of Stoat and a Fox this week.
