3 Whooper Swans dropped in on the 6th. Our first Shelducks have starting arriving back from their wintering grounds along with a Pochard, Tufted Duck and a pair of Goldeneye 8th. Our highest Wigeon count was 195 on the 7th. Goosanders have been seen on and off on the estuary, with a pair together on the 9th looking towards Glan Conwy.

A pair of Sparrowhawks were seen on the 9th circling over the wildlife garden again.

Water Rails have been sighted daily now from the coffee shop and the Benarth hide.

Waders are still passing by. Up to 6 Black-tailed Godwits have been seen through the week. They were joined by 5 Dunlin on the 4th. 8 Ringed Plovers were on the estuary on the 7th. Our first Greenshank for a week turned up with the Redshank on the estuary 8th. A Golden Plover was with the flock of 102 Lapwing on the 9th. A Golden Plover is very scarce bird on the reserve. Plenty of Common Snipe can be seen on the reed edges and on the islands.

Redwings are still moving south over the reserve. Our only warbler sighting was of a female Blackcap on the 9th. A lone Lesser Redpoll flew over the estuary on the 4th.
