Solway Hidden Heritage Forum

Saturday 7 November 2015, 10am – 3.30pm

Burgh-by-Sands Village Hall, CA5 6AN

A day of talks and workshops celebrating the rich history and archaeology of the Solway, including:

  • An update from Mark Graham (Grampus Heritage) on this year’s progress on Solway Wetlands archaeology from Holme Cultram Abbey
  • Traditional buildings of the Solway including ‘clay dabbin’ practical demonstrations
  • An overview on the built heritage landscape of Port Carlisle
  • Remembering the Solway- recording people’s memories from the Solway Coast
  • Guided walk around Port Carlisle and Burgh-by-Sands

Create an Orchard

Saturday 21 November 2015, 10am – 3pm

Cardurnock (north west of Kirkbride) location to be confirmed on booking


Join expert Ed Kyrke for this practical day learning how to create your own orchard or manage the fruit trees in your garden. Bring a packed lunch.

Christmas from Nature
Saturday 28 November 2015, 11am or 1.30pm start
RSPB
Campfield Marsh, Bowness-on-Solway, CA7 5AG

Join local forager John Crouch on a walk and workshop to find natural resources and use them to create your own Christmas and winter themed decorations. There will be two session, the first starting at 11am and the second from 1.30pm.
