Hello, I hope everyone is enjoying the Summer.
We are about to get going with our summer archaeological dig in Abbeytown so wanted to share the dates with you (see message below) in case you want to try your hand at a bit of archaeological work or just want to pop down and say ‘hello’ to the team and see what they have found this time. Grampus Heritage are undertaking the dig and will have a core team on site as well as their loyal band of volunteers but are always happy to welcome new people along to give them a hand or to show off finds to.
Hope to see you down there

Dear Hidden Heritage Volunteers,
We are setting up for our final main excavation for the Solway Wetlands LPS. We are starting on the 24th August and going until 4th October.
We will be once again excavating at the site of Holme Cultram Abbey and will be in the same field next to the church. Working hours will be 10am – 4pm Monday – Friday and Sundays.
Parking again is at a premium, so if you are happy to car share, please let yourself be known. Toilets will be on site, though please bring hand sanitiser as the water in the hand washing facility tends to run out quickly. You will need a packed lunch or there is a shop in the village. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
We are operating the same sign in policy, so sign in as and when you can make it.
Attached are some location maps.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Regards,
Jo
