Well it’s June and isn’t the weather wonderful!!! I am told it is going to change but I’m not too sure at the moment!

Anyway here is something to look forward to, I’ve listed our June events below, we would love to see you if you are interested in any of these events.

Wildlife Taster Day – Grasses and Sedges

Saturday 13^th June, 10.30am-3.30pm

RSPB Campfield Marsh, Bowness-on-Solway, CA7 5AG

Want to know your grasses from your sedges? Spend the day at both Campfield Marsh and Finglandrigg Wood National Nature Reserve to build up some basic skills in the world of botany with botanist Keith Watson. The day is suitable for complete beginners and novices alike, and is ideal for adults and older young people interested in delving deeper into the wildlife of the Solway. Bring a packed lunch, a drink and wear layers, a waterproof coat and wellies. The day involves both indoor sessions and outdoor fieldwork and will involve car sharing to another site. Free of charge but booking is essential.

Bats and Moths at Finglandrigg Wood

Saturday 13^th June, 8.30pm

Finglandrigg Wood NNR, Nr Kirkbampton, CA5 6JD

Join us for a fun evening walk around Finglandrigg Wood looking for bats, moths and other woodland creatures. Listen to bats with our bat detectors and take a closer look at some moths using a variety of traps and tricks.

Wild Food Foraging

Saturday 27^th June, 1pm – 4pm

RSPB Campfield Marsh, Bowness-on-Solway, CA7 5AG

Take a springtime stroll on the Solway with local chef John Crouch and see what edible snacks you can find in the hedgerows. John will then demonstrate how to cook up some wild ingredients and turn them into tasty treats! Free of charge but booking is essential.
