For the last three days, a flock of Black-tailed Godwit have been utilising the wetlands in front of the hide. Yesterday's numbers had increased to 33.

They look spectacular in their Summer plumage and it is good to see them using these meadows which, over the last few years, have been carefully managed with waders in mind.

In flight showing definitive white wing-bar, black tail-band, square white rump and the equally long protrusion of the bill and legs.


Repositioning themselves.


They soon get down to feeding again.


Group feeding and showing the difference in size and rufous colouring between males and females: females being slightly larger in size with paler colouring.
