Gorse is an important habitat and nectar source for a lot of different species especially at this time of year, so keep an eye on the bushes we have at Broadwater Warren. Last week a bee survey found several different species including Tree bumblebee and Buff Tailed bumblebee.

Several Butterflies were also seen on the wing including the first Comma of the year as well as Brimstones, Red Admirals and Peacocks.

An Orange Underwing was seen emerging from the leaf litter last week in the woods and hopefully some Moth trapping this season will inform us about what species are found at Broadwater Warren.

Several Woodlarks continue to sing on the heath and the pair of Stonechats has been seen on the Shooting butts. The Grey Wagtail has been seen feeding along the stream and around Decoy Pond. Other notable sightings include a Raven seen flying over the heath on Thursday.

Please let us know of any interesting sightings you see on the reserve.
