A second CCTV camera is now beaming amazing images of our seabird colony back to the visitor centre.
Last week, intrepid climbers from High Peak Geotechnical Ltd abseiled down the cliffs to re-install last year's Staple Newk camera and also sited a second camera, this time betwee Bartlett Nab and Jubilee viewpoints. This new camera will focus on the guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and puffins.
The cameras are already transmitting stunning images to the visitor centre, delighting our visitors who can watch all the action played out on a giant screen. They can even have a go at operating the pan and zoom cameras, which magnify images up to 60 times, picking up minute details of individual feathers and zooming right into the incredible blue of a gannet’s eye.
Last year, the camera showed stunning details of the lives of the Staple Newk gannets but this year, our visitors will get double the delight as they watch the comings and goings of other species as well.
