The amazing field teachers at Saltholme, our wildlife reserve and discovery park up near Stockton in the Tees Valley, have been recognised for the fab work they do with local schools and the community.
They’re through to the semi-finals of the National Lottery Awards 2012 - just 10 projects throughout the UK have reached the semi-finals in the education project category. How good is that?
But they need your help to get even further – into the grand final, no less.
Caroline, who leads our lifelong learning programme, says:“Many of our young visitors have never visited anywhere like this before, nor tried the kind of activities we put on for them. Watching as they experience their natural heritage for possibly the very first time, is a truly remarkable thing.
“To get to the semi-finals of the National Lottery Awards is brilliant for us and is recognition of all the hard work which has gone into the project. But, we want to go that extra step further and make it to the finals.
“We know that we’re up against some tough opposition and we need your votes to get us there."
The Awards are an annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects, and recognise and celebrate the difference that Lottery-funded projects make to communities across the UK. The winning project in each category will receive national recognition on a star-studded BBC One TV show in early November and, in addition to the Lottery funding they have already received, will receive a £2,000 cash prize to spend on their project.
Voting for the finals ends at midnight on Sunday 22 July, so please, please, please cast your vote before then. To register your vote for Saltholme in the education category, log on to www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards
