Next stop RSPB Bempton Cliffs.

Sundays are a day for taking things easy.   And now they can be even more relaxing as you can leave the car behind and hop on the bus to the reserve.

The Headlander (Services 500 & 501) will run every Sunday from 22 July until 2 September 2012, and also on Bank Holiday Monday, 27 August.  And to promote the new service, a double-decker and a photographer turned up for a photo-shoot.

After much persuading, Assistant Warden Dave Aitken agreed to do a stint of modelling alongside Claire from the EYMS bus company.

Service 500 starts from Bridlington Park & Ride to the south of the town,  easily accessible from both A165 and A614.   Departing at 9.30am, it operates direct to RSPB Bempton Cliffs.  The service returns from the reserve at 4.15pm giving you a whole day to explore – spend time on the viewing platforms admiring the seabirds then take a walk along the 400 feet cliff tops.   Bring a picnic and really make a day of it.    Show your bus ticket or bus pass and we’ll give you a free cuppa to go with your sarnis.

Service 501 provides a short shuttle service between Flamborough village, RSPB Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough South Landing.  This service connects with TD Travel Service 502 in Flamborough village, providing links with Bridlington Bus Station and the railway station.

The service also takes in Flamborough South Landing.  This quiet and unexpected coastal escape has a wooded ravine leading down to the beach with a dramatic cliff backdrop.  Look out for the sculpture trail and the Lifeboat Station.  And like Bempton Cliffs, it’s the perfect place for a cliff-top stroll to walk off Sunday lunch.
