Well 'fare'! Today there's been an almost constant trickle of Fieldfares coming in off the sea, some settling and feeding as soon as they've made landfall, others carrying on inland, 'chacking' away to each other. Lovely!

Following in their footsteps a Short-eared Owl was seen over the sea at Jubilee viewpoint and evidence of another Short-eared Owl on the reserve came in the form of a pellet found near New Roll Up - being dissected as I write! Two Goldcrests were present in the feeding station, although their calls could only just be heard above the ever busy Tree Sparrows and plenty of Greenfinches and Goldfinches joining the Sparrows. A Wheatear was a surprise late visitor to the RAF station fields.

Next weekend (29th and 30th) come and along and enjoy Feed the Birds Weekend, a chance to stock up on your feeders and food, find out which food is best for which birds and we'll also be helping our younger visitors make some simple feeders. Great discounts on some of the larger sacks of bird food too.
