Fieldfares - hundreds of them!
Upon entering the site yesterday, we observed roughly 300 fieldfares in one of the easternmost fields. However, these weren't the only ones, as the sky was full of them throughout the day.
Volunteer Chris duFeu, reported approximately 2000 fieldfares in the fields just the north of the Old Willow Works, later that morning too. Redwings were seen and heard throughout the day as well, but in much smaller numbers.
Chris also saw a little egret feeding in one of the pools along the vistor trail, but the highlight of the day had to be a woodcock sitting in the middle of the track, only a few metres in front of the Land Rover.
