Our Kestrels are now live on the Arne website! The female has been sitting on the eggs for 32 days so the first should hatch any time. She seems particularly restless today and sometimes you can even hear the chicks calling from the eggs. Who will be the first to see a hatched chick? It would be great to see everyones observations on this forum so we can keep updated with all the excitement! To see the webcam follow: http://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/a/arne/webcam.aspx
... and I should go back to school ... I meant taken ROOT to this chair! lol
Mrs K gets off chicks/eggs, comes to front of box and performs what looks like her aerobics for the day! Then promtply goes back to brood.
Surely he will bring back supper for his partner and offsprings??
... and feeding time for the chicks! I forgot there was a lizard in the larder!
OMG what happended then? I walked into the kitchen for a couple of mins, heard a sqwark, came rushing back in to find Mrs K not in the box. Mr K was perched at the front, right in front of the camera but instead of going over to brood, he flew off after Mrs K. Chicks/eggs were alone for a good 3/4 mins. Could only see 2 chicks and 2 eggs clearly. Mrs K came back and immediately started to brood again. Can see what I am sure is part of an egg shell in front of her.
It is, I am sure, part of an egg shell. Now I am worried because I only saw 2 chicks and 2 eggs when they left the box. I only stepped away for 2 mins ....!
Please can someone comment/help? I'm in despair here!
Hi Hazel. I'm afraid I missed that episode too. :-\
Thank you for replying Dom, thought I was virtually out here on my own!! Can you see the part of the egg shell between Mrs and front of box? Or do I need to go to specsavers?
There does appear to be a brown egg shell coloured patch in front of her. What colour are the remaining eggs?
