Our Kestrels are now live on the Arne website! The female has been sitting on the eggs for 32 days so the first should hatch any time. She seems particularly restless today and sometimes you can even hear the chicks calling from the eggs. Who will be the first to see a hatched chick? It would be great to see everyones observations on this forum so we can keep updated with all the excitement! To see the webcam follow: http://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/a/arne/webcam.aspx
Looks like 2 brown eggs still remaining.
Yes! Think some were slightly lighter than others though? Oh what happened Dom? I LITERALLY only stepped away for 2 mins. All was normal up until then!
Still 2 chicks and 3 eggs so all well I think?
REALLY could not see 'the third egg' last time they both left the nest. Must have been in more of a 'hollow' behind one of the other eggs. Thank you!
I checked the recorded footage and the brown patch has been there for some time. It looks more colourful on my monitor now that there's less ambient daylight.
Ah, thank you so much. My heart was in my mouth when I missed what happened and I saw the 'brown patch' glad it's the lighting and not my un-observancy!
Is it usual for them both to leave the nest unattended?
Now I feel like a drama-queen! I just want the family to be alright!
They probably don't make a habit of it but this is the first kestrel nest I've watched!
Me too! (Obviously!) I'm sure those that know at Arne will put us right in the morn? Well, I hope anyway.
I'm sure there are many genuine dramas ahead...
