Hello - This is a rather rushed first post but after a long time with nothing happening on the kestrel nest we came in this morning to find our surprise that the first egg has been layed! Very exciting! So I have switched the web cam over for the time being!
We are still keeping an eye on the buzzard nest so if they do decide to use it we will switch over to them!
But for the time being happy viewing of the kestrels
Michael
Ps - As this has happened quickly the web cam caption will still be for the feeder for a few days until I get the web team to change it over!
Hi all:-)
Looked in at appx 12.40 to see the male in the nest, presumeably he had just dropped lunch off. A few seconds later the female arrives and then feeds the chicks. She then drags the prey to the back away from the chicks, has a couple of beakfuls herself then takes it away. She then returns and broods them.
So good to see them doing well and they have grown since I was last online:-)
A clip (shortened) to follow, from when the female has arrived to feed her chicks.
A couple of pics of the feed...
Here is the clip
I think I can see 5 chicks now but not certain...Little clip to follow so we can count heads lol.
Here's the head-counting clip...
Looked in at 14.48 to see mum feeding them. Now the father has arrived, such a handsome bird, and he is now sitting in the window. Oh - he's just flown off and Mrs continues the feed. Clip to follow.
Here is the clip of the above feed. Mr pops in during it.
So yes pretty exciting - the first time we have had all 5 eggs hatch - lets wait and see what happens!
Lovely vids Mims - thanks! They are going to be demanding to feed - hope Mrs AK can count well!!
