What a fantastic Nightjar walk at Arne last night. A beautiful sunny evening after all the wet weather, firstly a walk around Coombe Heath when a Hobby appeared and was flying right over our heads and putting on a brilliant show for us, then onto a conservation area where after listening to lots of the churrings we saw a glimpse of a Nightjar flying fairly close to us and then more, about 4 sightings altogether. If all that wasn't good enough, just as we were going to head back, we saw a Barn Owl flying by in the distance - just wonderful :-) - then a beautiful moon appeared over the scenic landscape! Thanks very much Michael and Sarah for giving us all such a brilliant evening.
Sounds really good pudweena - how close to Arne are you???
Not very good at distance, think about 5 miles - or 15-20 mins depending on time of year :-)
I am about that distance from Sandwich Bay reserve - waiting for decent weather to visit there this year
ps - but in the car me thinks - have to save energy 'cos it's a big place!!
Our pleasure pudweena - it was a great night!
That just got you a bit bigger cake Michael, very clever, have a nice holiday and take parents to Maiden Castle.
Hi Sooty - Has pudweena been keeping you up to date again - I did wonder the other day how you knew it was my birthday! I haven't been to Maiden castle for years so I think I might follow your advice!
