RED DEER

After watching the recent series of Autumnwatch I wondered what peoples thoughts were about the idea of introducing Red Deer to Arne (the Purbecks)? There are Sika deer at Arne and always get a buzz to see them but Red Deer are native to the UK when Sika were introduced to Brownsea in the 19th century and swam over. Would they co habitat? I personally would love to see that.

Unfortunately the two species interbreed. They struggle to keep them apart in the New Forest, and it's a major problem in the Scottish Highlands, where in reality there are probably very few genetically pure red deer left.
