The aim is to raise awareness of the good work farmers are doing across the county - in both producing food and providing a home for nature. Come along and join us for an interesting and interactive day, including:

  •  Discussion sessions, lively debate and the opportunity to share ideas.
  •  A range of activities such as a farm walk, trailer rides and pigment painting to enjoy.

Lunch will also be provided, with entertainment from a local band during the lunch break.

Booking is essential!

To book your place, please visit the Eventbrite website here.

Speakers on the day will be:

  • Mary Quicke - award winning farmer and cheese maker, Newton St Cyres
  • Jack Skuse - Sharpan Outdoors Project Manager
  • Patrick McCaig - Otter Brewery
  • Mark Voss - Greener for life
  • Steve Hammet - Young Farmers Club
  • Deborah Deveney - RSPB on High Nature Value Farming

Our host Richard Haddock is delighted to be hosting this event. Richard is a commercial farmer who is keen to provide room on his farm for wildlife – and in particular the rare cirl bunting. Richard is looking forward to sharing his experiences as well as hearing how other farmers and practitioners do something similar - and about the benefits involved.

Matt Lobley from the Centre of Rural Policy Research at Exeter University, comments that we often take it for granted in Devon that good food and a great environment go hand-in-hand. Matt feels this event will give people a chance to share best practices and to gain valuable insights as so many farmers are leading the way in producing both quality food and wildlife.

We do hope you can join us - and we look forward to meeting you there!
