Tara Proud is responsible for managing Operation Turtle Dove, a flyway scale conservation programme to save the UK's fastest declining bird. Here she introduces her project will feature at our AGM and Members' Day.
Since Operation Turtle Dove began in 2012, we have made real progress and I want to share some of these successes with you.
During my talk, I will to take you on a journey from Suffolk to Senegal. I’ll talk about the exciting conservation work we are doing partnership all along the turtle dove migration route. We’re tackling tough conservation challenges and making science breakthroughs using cutting edge technology.
I’ll explain how cement producers and lettuce farmers are part of the solution for turtle doves, and how you can help us to save them too.
And if all that isn’t enough to persuade you that you’d like to come along and listen, I will also be revealing some exclusive video footage of Titan – the first turtle dove to ever be tracked all the way from England to his wintering grounds in West Africa and back again. This is an incredible 11,200km round journey.
To hear more about Operation Turtle Dove come along to Members’ Day on Saturday 10 October at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London. You can book your place online here.
