Two bits of good news.

First, I am delighted that the BBC is setting up camp at Minsmere for this year's Springwatch.  The production crew, presenters and viewers are in for a treat.  As demonstrated by my boy this weekend, it will put a smile on everyone's face.

Second, although we do not yet know if the BBC will rise to Chris Rose's challenge to resurrect the live recording of nightingales on 18 May, we thought we'd come up with a back up plan.  Notwithstanding some rather large technical challenges, we plan to broadcast live from a nightingale site in Kent on Sunday 18 May and hope as many people as possible tune in.

As Chris Rose said in his blog a fortnight ago (see here) - everyone should hear a nightingale every spring.  And if people cannot get to hear one themselves then I am glad that we can bring the song of the nightingale into people's lives through other means!
