Harold MacMillan was talking of what is most likely to blow government off course whereas I am writing of two of the standard events in my life: the CLA Game Fair and the Bird Fair.
The Game Fair (late July) is held this year at a new site, Ragley Hall in Warwickshire. mixing with the huntin', shootin' and fishin' crowd might seem a little odd to some RSPB members but there are lots of RSPB members attending the Game Fair (and we always recruit a few more), lots of land owners with whom we work closely and yes, a few people who want to tell us what they think of us!
The Bird Fair (late August) is rather different! If you are interested in nature and you haven't given it a try then I suggest you might find it fun. Have a look at the website and see what you think.
