An online poll in the Guardian, following Natural England's announcement that they had been forced to withdraw from the Suffolk sea eagle project for funding reasons, ended last night. A large majority of those voting, nearly 71%, were in favour of reintroduction. That's a much bigger majority than that of the Westminster coalition government.

This is a blow to the Country Land & Business Association who e-mailed their members locally to vote 'no'.

Ex-Defra Minister, Barry Gardiner, on Twitter, hoped that RSPB would go ahead anyway. We'll have to see.
