There seems to be more linseed in the countryside this year - or is that just around where I live? It's just turning blue. Perhaps it was planted in advance to celebrate a Conservative-dominated coalition government?
Linseed is a crop with oil-rich seeds. It can form an important part of wild bird seed mixtures for a variety of farmland birds.
Planting such seed mixes can be funded through agri-environment schemes (organic and conventional) in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. But only if the funding remains!
