There’s always a race in the office at lunchtime to eat as quickly as you can and then get outside. In the winter our outside excursions are often cut short due to inclement weather, during this time we’re very thankful for the sandwich delivery service and our office microwave, but as soon as the weather gets a little bit brighter we all begin to head off outside. I don’t tend to travel too far from the office, as we have a lovely garden my lack of an exploring gene and lazy bones make it hard for me to muster any enthusiasm for the treks to the nearby cemetery my friends often do. That last sentence probably sounds strange, my friends heading off to a cemetery! It’s very reminiscent of a misspent youth but I won’t go there. No, Rosary Cemetery in Norwich was the first ever non-denominational cemetery in the UK and is a haven for all kinds of wildlife and wonderful birds and I am often very envious (but not enough to make the effort to walk there!) of my friends and their tales of the glorious things they spotted during their walk.

However, today my perseverance with sticking close to home was rewarded I spotted something special. I saw this beautiful yellow and black prickly fellow. He was tiny; tucked in between two bricks nestling on the mortar of our outside wall. He caught my eye as I was pacing up and down talking on my mobile phone. Once I’d finished my call I turned my phone into a camera (as you do) and took a picture of him. It never fails to amaze me how nature is all around us, even in the most inhospitable places like a wall!

I have yet to identify my discovery, his picture is below. Please let me know if you know what he is, I’d love to be able to name him and for one time be able to tell tales of the beauty I saw during my lunchtime without walking further than a few paces.
