I have it, by George I have it. But then again no!

Going back to my previous post in July called "What do you do in the bath?" you would have met my Little Chief and his bath toys. I pondered over whether or not he will be able to see the amazing wonders of the sea when he is older.

So this is just the ramblings of a new father right? A new father who at the age of 11 desperately wanted to be a marine biologist until he realised that his dramatic sea sickness would not let this dream be fullfilled (yes I know bring out the violins).

Well I consider myself a lucky *** really - I have a job where I can still have an impact on the marine environment. Being part of the RSPB means we are at the forefront of national discussions and tussles over the seas around our island.

We all know that increasing biodiversity, or at least halting the decline in biodiversity is critical for the planet, our country, our back yard and our dinner plates.

But how do we do it?

Why do we want to do it?

Are there specific species we want to save or just more species in general?

These are all the big questions I ask myself (often whilst in the bath). Luckily there are other people out there asking the same questions. Maybe you are sat there thinking, maybe he has a point.

If only it was as simple as what happened the other day. It was the Little Chief's first birthday and in a true boy-collecting way, I gave him some more bath toys to add to his collection.

I single handedly increased the biodicersity of our bath tub by 80%. Yes, I did not just halt the decline but INCREASED the biodiversity with four new species: a bull shark, seahorse, clownfish and rare snorkelling pufferfish.

If only the real world was that simple.

Instead what we need is to make the people out there that make the decisions, the hot shots in government, to sit up and listen. Luckily, we have a potential army of over a million people. So far thousands have signed the Marine Pledge but that is only the start. So if you want a solution, that is more impactful than buying bath toys, then come along to this page and sign the pledge and make people listen.

Thanks for listening to the ramblings of a new father.
