So I am getting the hang of this now, stepping up for nature is all about doing that little bit more than you usually do – even if you do work for the RSPB. This coming week gives you another opportunity to do this with Make Your Nature Count.

The RSPB’s third Make Your Nature Count survey is happening from 4-12 June.  Please find an hour to watch your garden and count the birds.  It is all about barriers though, right? The things that get in our way and stop us doing the things we could (or should) do. So I am about to make it even easier for you, attached is the form you can use to fill in and tell us all about what you do or don’t have in your little green patch. Trust me my green patch aint so green, more a paved paradise but I am still going to have a go (I am a MYNC virgin).

On our simple to use form there are also a few questions where you can tell us if you ever see badgers, hedgehogs, frogs and toads.  This year we’re asking about bats, great crested newts, stag beetles and grass snake too! Around 100,000 people took part in 2010 and we’re hoping for many more will this year.  If you’d like to take part, just visit www.rspb.org.uk/naturecount and of course, feel free to spread the word!

While you are at it PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take a photo and pop it up on to our Facebook page so we show everyone all the great and small things we have here in the East.

So whatever you are doing this weekend, in the evenings or even early in the morning over a leisurely breakfast (apparently some people have these) give it a go and step up for nature.

Have a good one.
