Read about the latest stage in our campaign to safeguard the vital laws that protect nature. Steph Landymore, our Defend Nature campaigner is helping to ensure that biodiversity minister Rory Stewart has a lasting reminder of the wildlife and special places that we love and are protected by the Nature Directives:
Tomorrow, UK Environment Minister Rory Stewart meets his counterparts from across Europe in Brussels to talk about what needs to be done to halt and reverse the loss of our wildlife by 2020.
Over the last two months we've been showing him that he's got support from across the UK to help him to defend the Nature Directives – the vital legislation that underpins protection of vulnerable habitats and species across the UK and Europe.
And together we have shown Rory Stewart that we’re behind him! You've sent your personal emails and letters to MPs in your thousands, and sent Rory Stewart hundreds of tweets sharing the amazing wildlife and places across our four countries, and further afield, that you're backing him to defend.
And your messages have joined thousands more from supporters of other UK environmental organisations like The Woodland Trust and Friends of the Earth too.
So we teamed up, and yesterday we went down to the Defra Offices to deliver a little flavour of that combined support for our minister, in a book full of just some of your messages. We hope he'll take it with him on the train as a reminder that he’s able to speak up for all of us and the nature that depends on the position he takes.
On behalf of Friends of the Earth, RSPB, Woodland Trust and the Joint Links we handed in just some of your thousands of messages about the importance of our nature protection to Rory Stewart
