I was sat watching TV yesterday when Andrew (my son) came running in and said quick there is something new in the garden and I have no idea what it is. I went to the back window and Steven (also my son) was trying to get some photos of it through the window using my old Fujifilm camera, by time I had my camera ready it had flown off. What was it you ask well for lots of you it will be nothing special but as I live in the middle of a housing estate it was special to me as it was a Fieldfare.
Stevens photos didnt come out to well so I was hoping it would revisit either attracted by the apples I have stuck in the tree or by the small cotoneaster shrub at the back of the garden, well I was not disappointed today.
Not the best pictures in the world as they were taken through the window and there was light snow, but stll a new visitor for us and I'm chuffed.

Nice one, Shane and well done to Andrew for noticing it was something different.
You can see from the forum threads that they are coming into gardens all over the country (including mine). I guess with these weather conditions they are desperate for food.
EDIT Just had a Redwing too. I don't think I've got a very good photo though.

Thanks Bob, I have told Andrew again (his head surely cannot swell anymore) and your right they are lovely birds.
Congratulations on your new visitor. It's always exciting to see something different in your garden. I've hardly moved from the window hoping the Goldcrest that came yesterday will show up, but hardly any birds about today.
Sarah
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...
