Latest Pics From The Garden

Howdy! Finally getting around to posting some pics I've been taking of my regular garden visitors over the past week or so. Nothing new, species wise, but I'm thrilled I'm still getting so many birds visiting. Oh actually, I say nothing new but a lone Long Tailed Tit has been briefly visiting a couple of times. I wonder where his/her pals are?

Anyway, here's some of my current visitors:

Also, the garden next door is like a jungle, all overgrown, as the house is empty. It's regularly full of Goldfinches who seem to love the seeds from what I thought were weeds, but I'm not sure. Anyone know what they're eating from? I should get some and plant them in my garden as the Goldfinches go crazy for them! :)

  • What a lovely selection, Ella!  I'm still waiting for my first Nuthatch.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

It's still amazing to think we're all getting Jays.

Hi Ella, you've captured loads of different species! Well done for getting all them! I love the Goldfinches! I believe they feed on a plant called Teasels, I think they like to rip out the seeds. I try growing some this year but with the weather so naff they never took. But they're still in the ground so maybe in spring they might start. Unless they die through winter. But google "Teasel" and see what it says. Also its amazing what an over grown garden can attract :)

    Cheers, Jason

Hi Alan, cheers for the info, I was wondering why they were taking so long! They're actually planted in my dads garden, they've already got the leaves so Im hoping they'll survive the winter! There's quite a lot too! So hoping the GF will be visiting.

    Cheers, Jason

Alan, weeds do grow better than flowers or veg! Must be natures way of toying with us! The teasels should bring in the GF's!
