Something different every day!

We have experienced such an increase in the number of and varied species of birds that have visited our garden since spring time this year.

Today i actually counted 11 blackbirds in the garden at the same time and they're quite comical to watch chasing each other around the garden!

Starlings are on the up and i love their chatting noises! and our most recent newbies are 4 long tailed tits which appear to be very tame - out topping up the feeders last week when they decided to fly right in and perch about a foot away from me! Very cute and delightful to watch and listen to!

We put it down to the varied types of food that we've started to leave out in the garden, different flavour suet pellets (the sparrows love the apple flavour), RSPB buggy suet balls, and several different types of seed - they just can't get enough!

I just hope that they all stick around for the big garden watch at the end of January!!

Hello D,   How wonderful to get LTT close up;  I have only managed to get a photo before they scoot off again.    I agree with the bird increase in the garden,  we have more blackbirds coming in and this morning we had around 8 chaffinch although they didn't hang around long with the blackbird mafia  !

i know, it's very strange how for that one hour you can guarantee it to be the quietest hour of the bird day!!! Lets keep everything crossed that this one will be different for us all! My husband says they take garden watch weekends off!!

We also had 4 chaffinches today which is strange for us - normally just 1 or 2 at a time!! But i have to say I was so pleased with the LTT being so tame and not even budging when i started moving around the garden!!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

We all have the same problem when it comes to the count. They just disappear!

Brilliant to get the LTT's so close and tame. I get visits from them from time to time but they never stay long.

    Cheers, Linda.
