Autumn moths

Have you read Adrians blog yet? The silver Y is just one of hundreds of species you can still find out and about this autumn. Where to look? The silver Y will be out in the day time in your flower beds but most will come out after dark. Around lights at night is always a good start but it's worth checking out the walls of your house during daylight, especially nearby to lights or any alcoves that offer protection from the elements. Some of them really blend in so it may take a while to spot them!

It's also worth having a look through long grass and wildflower patches, there are almost certainly going to be a few moths at home. If you want to get up close with them then moth trapping might be for you, the information here will help if you want to set up one yourself, alternatively go to a reserve where they do moth trapping nights!

If you have got the bug (pun intended), post your moth pictures here, lets see what you have been finding this autumn!
