I was thrilled to see a Peregrine Falcon perched on my bird feeder last night. Obviously waiting for a tasty morsel but it posed for long enough to get a good look at its talons, beak, eyes and feather markings. Fantastic!
Hi Shackleton10,
That would be an almost unique garden visitor - they either perch up high on cliffs or tall buildings, or wait in the air at high altitude to stoop on prey. Are you sure your visitor wasn't a sparrowhawk?
:-)
Seriously thinking about trying harder!
In reply to Jackdaw:
I agree with Jackdaw. A Peregrine visiting a garden feeder is a very unlikely occurrence. It's much more likely to be one of these - a Sparrowhawk.
They are the most common garden predators.
