Baby long-tailed tit

To my deep joy I noticed 4 long tailed tits on the suet block feeder yesterday, I hadn't seen any for quite a while. 2 seemed to know what they were doing and two looked distinctly uneasy as they tried to perch on top. I watched again this morning, today there were only 3:-( 1 obvious youngster who had real landing issues and would only manage it after several abortive attempts, crash landings and near misses. Eventually it came managed to get onto the hanging wire try I put sunflower seeds in, the only problem, it was facing the wrong way, tail in the tray and didn't seem confident enough to have another go. It finally made it from there on to the suet block feeder and was rewarded with a mouthful of suet from a parent. It's obvious said parent is try to encourage a little independence in the matter of suet though because when it put it's bill up for another beak full it got its nose pecked and was forced to slide down the hook part of the pole until it was tottering on top of the block and then the parent flew off, leaving the youngster utterly bewildered about it's next move. In the end it followed the parent and flew off to the wood:-)
